Why Make The Switch?
One incandescent bulb for one LED bulb
An incandescent light bulb is an electric light which produces light with a wire filament heated to a high temperature by an electric current passing through it, until it glows. The hot filament is protected from oxidation with a glass or quartz bulb that is filled with an inert gas (a gas which doesn’t react to heat or electricity) or evacuated. The more electricity which is passed into the bulb, the brighter the light produced.
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Unlike incandescent bulbs, LEDs are made up of a material called a semiconductor. When an electrical current is passed through this solid material, its individual atoms become excited and release energy in the form of light.
